After about a year of servicing a First National Bank Texas ITM in Killeen, the Killeen-based bank asked Rochester to step out of its footprint and provide service for another ITM in Baytown, about an hour south of Beaumont. Yong Chapman, branch manager for Killeen and Bryan, explained that a great working relationship with the bank allowed him to leverage this opportunity.
“Even though Baytown is out of our service area, we knew we wanted to do this for one of our top customers,” he said. “However, we had to make it worth the trip.” By working with First National Bank Texas, Chapman was able to secure one other ATM and branch work for two locations.
When First National Bank Texas approached Yong about another ITM opening in Conroe, Yong again sought additional work in the area. Now, the Bryan / College Station branch is providing service for seven First National Bank Texas branches and two ATMs in Conroe, Willis, and Huntsville.
Yong said the experience that the Killeen branch gained from servicing the Killeen ITM has helped with this new business. “There was definitely some learning involved, but now we’ve got it down to a science,” he said. Service time is the major difference between ITMs and ATMs. Yong said ITMs typically take about 25 minutes to service and hold more denominations as well as coin.
Yong believes that this is an example of a true partnership that Rochester has built over time. “We have a great working relationship with them and are in communication with them all the time,” he said. “We do what we can to help them and will continue to do so.”
